The method of the invalids in raising falsehoods about the Qur’an
Dr. Munqith bin Mahmoud Al-Saqqar
Perhaps it is appropriate, before starting to mention the details of the falsehoods raised about the Qur’an, that we stop at some of the features of the method adopted by those who propagated them, when they lacked all forms of scientific objectivity, and did not leave a fair follower a door to apologize to them with the excuse of ignorance or misunderstanding. How can he excuse them when he alludes to these suspicions and falsehoods? Major shameful landmarks that are unmistakable to the eye of a discerning contemplative:
First: Lying in the invention of heroism
Lying is a trick for those who have no trick or evidence, and it is a path in which those who raise suspicions and falsehoods about the Noble Qur’an have fallen into darkness when they were tired of tricks to find in the Qur’an impugnable and misleading. When they knew that lying is a commodity whose falsehood is deceived by many of the demagogues and the common people who will not be able to discover these lies; They sailed their ships on it, and they continued to lie, until they believed, due to its abundance, that they believed themselves in what they claimed.
There are many forms of their lies, and I will suffice with illustrating them, starting with what Wahib Khalil said in the context of his talk about the miracles of Christ mentioned in the Qur’an: “And if some commentators are trying to belittle the status of the Lord Christ in ability, saying: He does this by the command of God, then we find that Islam bears witness that this Ability belongs to God only” ( [1] ) .
It is known to every Muslim or other person who is familiar with the Noble Qur’an that the one who attributed the miracles of Christ to God’s power and permission is the Noble Qur’an, and not its interpreters: “ And when you were created from clay like the shape of a bird with My ears; then You breathed into it, and it became a bird by My ears” (Al-Maeda). : 110).
It is a lie that the authors of a famous book claimed; He specialized in spreading lies about the Qur’an “Comments on the Qur’an” that the four memorizers of the Qur’an died before the Qur’an was compiled during the reign of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq: “Abu al-Darda’, Muadh bin Jabal, Zaid bin Thabit, and Abu Zaid... for these four died before the Qur’an was compiled.. When Abu Bakr saw this situation, he was alarmed by the loss of the Qur’an” ( [2] ) .
Their statement is clearly and undoubtedly false, because these four all lived during the reign of the second caliph, Omar ibn al-Khattab, that is, they lived in the plural of Abu Bakr, may God bless him and grant him peace. Abu al-Darda was appointed judge of Damascus during the reign of Omar, and he died two years before the death of Othman.
Muaz bin Jabal died during the caliphate of Omar, may God bless him and grant him peace, in the plague of Emmaus in the year 17 AH.
As for the third of them, Zaid bin Thabit, he was the one who compiled the Qur’an during the reign of Al-Siddiq, then Uthman, and he died in the year 45 AH, that is, in the time of Muawiyah, may God be pleased with all of them.
The fourth of them is Abu Zaid Saad bin Ubaid Al-Ansari, may God bless him and grant him peace. He was killed on the Day of Al-Qadisiyah during the time of Caliph Omar bin Al-Khattab ( [3]
Another form of lying is the Palestinian Arab priest Anis Sharoush’s challenge to the Arabic of the Qur’an in front of an audience of non-Arabs who do not know Arabic, by saying: “But Muhammad used many foreign words and sentences in the Qur’an... in a book that he claimed was inspired by God in Arabic” ( [4] ) , It is certain that the Arab reader knows that there is not a single non-Arabic sentence in the Qur’an, as it was revealed in a clear Arabic language, but Dr. Shoroush raves about this in front of foreigners, and is not ashamed to lie to them.
When Coptic Orthodox Tharwat Saeed wanted to recommend Christians and consider them believers according to the testimony of the Holy Qur’an, he said in his book “The Truth of the Incarnation,” which was presented and reviewed by both the Catholic Bishop Yoannis Zakaria and the Protestant priest Dr. Munis Abdel Nour: “If the Qur’an believes in the polytheism of Christians, then why does it explicitly state in its verses With the permissibility of marrying people of the Book...the Prophet of Islam also married Jewish and Christian women, and they are: Mary the Copt, and he had Abraham (the Christian), Rayhana bint Shamun Al-Nadhiri (the Jewish), Safiya bint Huyay bin Akhtab Al-Qurayzi (the Jewish), and Juwayriyah bint Al-Harith Al-Mustalifi. (Judaism)” ( [5] ) .
His statement that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, married Jewish and Christian women is an outright lie. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, only married them after they converted to Islam.
In his statement, it is sufficient to convey some of the dialogue that took place between the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and Safiya when he wanted to marry her. He said to her : “Choose. If you choose Islam, I will keep you for myself, and if you choose Judaism, perhaps I will free you and you will join your people.” Safiyya said: O Messenger of God, I converted to Islam, and I believed in you before you called me to your departure, and I have no hope in Judaism, and I have no father or brother in it, and you chose me to disbelief and Islam, for God and His Messenger are more beloved to me than emancipation and returning to my people ( [[] 6] ) . So the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, married her while she was a Muslim.
As for Rayhana, she rejects the claim of the invalids, and mentions that the Messenger of God married her after she converted to Islam, and says: I choose God and His Messenger, so when I converted to Islam, the Messenger of God freed me and married me, and gave me twelve uqiyahs in charity ( [7] ) .
Tharwat Saeed continues to lie, claiming that the Almighty’s saying: “And there is not among you except that he will enter it” (Maryam: 71) foretells the entry into Hell and burning in it for all the sons of Adam, and he quotes “Jalal al-Din explains the word “I will enter it” by entering and burning in it” ( [8] ) , and he lied. Regarding the attribution of burning to Al-Suyuti, it is not found in any of his books.
Then the falsifier goes on to cite for his lie and falsehood the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him: “Entry will come, and neither righteous nor immoral will remain except that he will enter it.” The hadith that he cites is weak and it is not correct to attribute it to the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him. It is a matter of which he may be ignorant, so he will be forgiven for that, but nothing would justify its transfer from The hadith is what he likes, and his turning away from its completeness is because he contradicts his statement and refutes it by lying, so the hadith in its entirety is: “Entry will come, and neither righteous nor immoral will remain without entering it, so it will be coolness and peace for the believer as it was for Abraham, to the point that Hell - or he said: Hell - has a noise from their coolness.” “Then Allah will save those who feared Him and leave the wrongdoers therein crouching. ” ( Maryam: 72 )
Second: distorting the meanings of texts and interpreting them with problematic meanings
Those who challenge the Qur’an resort to distorting the words of Islamic texts and interpreting them with problematic meanings that no Muslim scholar agrees with. This includes the words of Pope Shenouda: “The Qur’an was not limited to enjoining good debate with the People of the Book. Rather, more than that, the Qur’an placed the Christians at the center of issuing fatwas in religion.” Then he said: “And if you are in doubt about what We have revealed to you, then ask those who read the Scripture before you” (Yunus: 94). He also said: “And We did not send before you anything but confusion Indeed, We reveal to them, so ask the people of the message if you do not know. (An-Nahl: 43 ) [10] ) .
Similar to distorting the meanings of the Qur’anic text is what the authors of the book “Commentaries on the Qur’an” say in their comment on the Almighty’s saying: “ We have not neglected anything in the Book” (Al-An’am: 38): “There is no doubt that the Qur’an does not contain most of the sciences, including fundamental, natural, mathematical, and medical issues. Nor on daily incidents, nor even on the stories of the prophets; then these words of his do not correspond to reality” ( [11] ) . They were ignorant or ignored that the verse of Surat Al-An’am is not related to the Qur’an, but rather to the preserved tablet in which God wrote the decrees of everything. Al-Tabari said: “The Lord, who did not waste preserving the deeds of animals and animals on the earth, and birds in the air, until he preserved their movements and actions, and recorded that of them in the Mother of the Book, and gathered them together and then rewarded them for their previous deeds in the land of calamity, is more likely to not waste your deeds, nor He neglects to remember the actions you do” ( [12] ) .
The verse in its context is clear in indicating this meaning mentioned by Al-Tabari: “And there is not any living creature on the earth, nor any bird that flies with its wings, except nations like you. We have not neglected anything in the Book. Then to their Lord will be revealed Sharun” (Al-An’am: 38), and similarly, God’s saying : “And no living creature On earth, except that its provision is upon God, and He knows its resting place and its enclosure, each in a clear Book (Hud: 6), so the book that contained the destinies of the creatures and their provisions is the Preserved Tablet; Not the Holy Quran.
Then, if we assume that the Qur’an is the intended meaning of the Almighty’s saying: “We have not neglected anything in the Book,” then rational people understand this general meaning to have a specific meaning that can be understood from the context, since it is absurd and even foolish to think that when the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, read this verse, he intended that the Qur’an contain names. The men of Quraysh, or the foods of Persia, or the names of the animals that God created - this would not occur to the mind of a rational person, even if he disbelieved in the Qur’an and denied it, because he would carry generality in his saying . Of something) in the specific meaning that is appropriate for it as a religious book, that is, what we omitted in the Book of anything that improves human life in this world and the afterlife. The Qur’an contains everything that humanity needs, which is specifically mentioned in the prophecies ( [13] ) .
Among the forms of distortion of meanings is what Pastor Anis Sharoush did with his English listeners by saying: “You Muslims believe that Christ is still alive...but if we compare this with what was stated in the Qur’an, we will find a contradiction, for the Qur’an says: And peace be upon me on the day I was born.” “And the day I die and the day I will be resurrected alive” (Maryam: 33)” He read it in Arabic correctly, then translated it for his listeners: “And peace be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I will be resurrected alive” ( [14] ) , so he changed the present tense verbs - which meant the future - into verbs. past ; Taking advantage of his listeners' ignorance of the Arabic language.
Among the distortions of meanings, the priest Zakaria Boutros claimed in his program on Al-Hayat channel that there is a word in the Qur’an that the priest feels ashamed to say in front of the viewers, and it is the word (marriage), which he - his weak mind - understands to mean intercourse ( [15] ) .
Third: Amputating texts and taking them out of their course
The propagators of falsehoods - citing Islamic sources - deliberately cut and fragment texts, choosing from the text what they like, and leaving out what does not agree with their whims and falsehood. Among these things is what the priest Zechariah Boutros did as he inferred the doctrine of the Trinity with the Almighty’s saying: “ The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, is only the Messenger of God and His Word.” ! “He bestowed it upon Mary and a spirit from Him ” (An-Nisa’: 171). He was blind to the beginning of the verse and its completion. Because they contain a condemnation of the Trinity and a warning to its people : “O People of the Book, do not go to extremes in your religion and do not say about God anything but the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, is only a Messenger of God, and His Word is most perfect.” To Mary and a spirit from Him. So believe in God and His messengers, and do not say: “Desist from three. It is better for you.” God is but one God. Glory be to Him. He has a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and God is sufficient as a disposer of affairs.” We will not worship Him, but he is arrogant, so He will gather them all to Himself” (An-Nisa: 171-172).
This amputation of texts is a habit that Father Zakaria Boutros never tires of repeating on his satellite programs. When he wanted to infer the authenticity of his Holy Book, he claimed that the Qur’an does not say that the Torah and the Gospel have been verbally distorted, but rather it only says that moral distortion has occurred. He used as evidence for that what was stated in Tafsir Al-Baydawi after summarizing Al-Baydawi’s words. And he cut it off, and Al-Qums says: (Al-Baydawi says: “ Do you hope that they will believe in you” meaning the Jews , “and indeed there was a party of them” a group of their ancestors “who heard the word of God” meaning the Torah), and then they distorted it “That is, interpreting it and interpreting it as they desire.” Then it follows According to Al-Baydawi’s words, he said: “They [did not] change the words and words.”
The hoodlum deliberately cut out Al-Baydawi’s words, which spoke about two types of distortion: the first is the distortion of words, and the other is the distortion of meanings that the hoodlum mentioned, and Al-Baidawi’s entire phrase: “Then they distort it ” as the epithet of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and the verse of stoning. Or interpreting it, so they interpret it as they desire ( [16] ) , so he deleted from Al-Baydawi’s statement his saying: “I disobeyed Muhammad, peace and blessings of God be upon him, and the verse about stoning,” because it indicates a distortion of words.
Al-Qums repeated this action again, and he quoted Al-Baydawi’s statement in interpreting the words of God Almighty : Among those who are Jews are those who distort words from their places. It was reported on the authority of Al-Baydawi that he said about the moral distortion rather than the verbal one. He said: (Al-Baydawi said: “ They distort the words,” that is, they distort it from its places in which God placed it; that is, they interpret it according to what they desire, so they incline it from what God revealed in it. ").
He excised from it what contradicts his purpose and refutes his reasoning, so Al-Baydawi’s complete phrase is: “ They distort the word,” that is, they turn it away from its places in which God placed it, by removing it from it and establishing something else in it. Or they interpret it to what they desire and incline it from what God revealed in it” ( [17] ) .
Among the forms of amputation and distortion are what I saw in a number of Christian writers and their priests ( [18] ) . They claimed that Al-Razi was problematic about the statement of Christ’s escape from crucifixion and the resemblance to others, and they quoted him as saying: “In general, whatever it may be, there are problems in casting his resemblance on others: The first problem: If we allow casting the likeness of a human being onto another human being, it would entail sophistry...” Then they quote a long statement by Al-Razi, summing it up that saying that someone other than Christ was crucified instead of him has six problems. These problems were reported from him by Tharwat Saeed, and he commented on them by saying: “Imam Fakhr concluded Al-Din Al-Razi, and no comment,” and he misleads his readers that these problems are posed by Al-Razi, so he says: “For this reason, it was not necessary for an honest scholar like the scholarly Imam Fakhr Al-Din Al-Razi to refute the story of the similarity in a comprehensive manner” ( [19] ).
The truth is that Al-Razi, may God have mercy on him, mentioned the six problems that Christians and others pose regarding the Qur’an’s statement about Christ’s salvation. Then, when he finished listing them, he began to respond to them all, saying: “This is a summary of the questions in this place: and the answer to the first... and the answer to the second. ..”.
After he replied to her one by one, He concluded with a sufficiently satisfactory result and said: “In summary, the questions they mentioned are matters that are subject to possibilities in some ways, and when it was proven by the conclusive miracle that Muhammad, peace and blessings of God be upon him, was truthful in everything he reported, prevent these possible questions from becoming an opposition to the conclusive text” ( [20] ), so Tharwat Saeed was blinded. And others who refuted Al-Razi’s statement were complete, and they fell into disgraceful deception when they attributed to him the Christian saying that he was responding to.
Fourth: The Qur’an is based on unreliable sources and information
In casting their doubts about the Qur’an, the Christians resort to sources that are rejected and whose reliability is questioned, such as the Holy Book, which Muslims and investigators from the People of the Book see as historical books written by unknown people, and attributed to the prophets without any evidence documenting them. Accordingly, these books are faulty in their testimony, and there is no reliance or reliance on them. Reliability in its information, according to which the challengers judge the Qur’an, so they present it as if it were documents and historical documents whose authenticity is agreed upon, and then they fault the Qur’an when it contradicts and contradicts it. However, if they see it as agreeing with it, they are not ashamed to claim that it was copied from it, for the Qur’an is not safe from them if it agrees or contradicts it.
This includes their denial of the Qur’an when it disagreed with them in naming the father of Abraham, peace be upon him, “Azar” (see Al-An’am: 74), and their argument that the Torah called him “Terah” (see Genesis 11/27).
They also denied the Holy Qur’an when it spoke about Pharaoh’s wife sponsoring Moses (see Al-Qasas: 9), because the Torah says: The one who sponsored him was Pharaoh’s daughter (see Exodus 2/5-7).
They also denied that the color of the cow of the Children of Israel was bright yellow (see Al-Baqarah: 69), because the Torah says it makes it red in color (see Numbers 19/1-4). All of these Biblical reports are false and unreliable, and they are too weak to be evidence for a narrator or historian. In addition to the Great Qur’an.
Those who attack the Qur’an are also fond of the strange things found in the books of some commentators, which are in general copied from the narrations and reports of the People of the Book, so they confuse them with the Qur’an, and make their reprehensible meanings an evidence against it, and this is a violation of objectivity. If the books of men are used as evidence, the Qur’an is not used as evidence against him.
Perhaps one of the most important examples of this is the story of the cranes, which was repeatedly mentioned by those who challenge the Qur’an, and Islamic scholars have demonstrated its falsehood. Although it was reported by commentators and historians, Judge Ayyad described them as “those who are fond of every strange thing, who absorb from the newspapers every true and false thing” ( [21] ) , and because of their passion for mentioning strange things, their great works were burdened with Israelites and the absurdity of the sayings of nations that narrate what they narrate without restraint or restriction; The appellants quoted these narrations, and they confused the common Muslims when they deluded them into the veracity of these statements transmitted in some books of interpretation, and the malicious people - in such a case - do not forget to mention the page numbers from which they quoted; By mentioning these details, they intend to further deceive the common Muslims in order to make them believe that the ugly meanings found in those narrations that the ancient Muslims transmitted in their books are true and reliable, in accordance with their well-known rule: “Whoever attributes it to you has referred it to you.”
Among this is what the appellants quoted from some books of interpretation, according to the Almighty’s saying: “And has the news of the adversary reached you when they surrounded the prayer chamber?” (p. 21). They reported an alleged false story, the summary of which is that David, peace be upon him, saw his neighbor’s woman bathing, and he became enamored with her, so he sent her husband to be killed in War, then he married her, and that God blamed him for his action, so he cried for forty days until the grass grew from the tears of his eyes ( [22] ) . This fairy tale, which is reprehensible in its meanings, was originally taken from the books of the Torah (see: Samuel (2) 11/1-26). ), and it was not mentioned in Muslim books attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with a true or weak chain of transmission.
Similar to this is the martyrdom of those who challenge the Qur’an with what was narrated on the authority of some of the predecessors, that they said in the interpretation of the Almighty’s saying: “Q and the glorious Qur’an” (Q: 1-2): “Q, a mountain surrounding the entire earth, it is called Jabal Qaf,” and Ibn Katheer commented on this. The strange saying: “It is as if this - and God knows best - is one of the myths of the Children of Israel that some people took from them, because they saw the permissibility of narrating things from them that are neither true nor false. In my opinion, this and others like it and the like are the inventions of some of their heretics, with which they confuse the people about their religion” ( [23] ) .
The same applies to citing what the commentators mentioned in interpreting the words of God : And indeed We tried Solomon and placed upon his throne a body, but then he turned away. (Page: 34) So they mentioned a strange story, the summary of which was that a demon cast upon him the likeness of Solomon, and he used to come to his wives ( [24] ) .
Abu Hayyan Al-Andalusi said: “The commentators on this sedition and the throwing of the body have quoted sayings from which the prophets must be disavowed, and they should be examined in their books, and they are something that it is not permissible to quote, rather they are among the conditions of the Jews and heretics, and God did not explain the sedition what it is, nor the body that He threw on a throne.” Suleiman, and the closest thing that was said about it is that what is meant by temptation is that it was not excluded in the hadith that said: “I will go around seventy women tonight, each one of them bringing a knight who fights in the path of God.” He did not say, “If God wills,” so he went around them, but only one woman became pregnant. And she came to him with half a leg” ( [25] ) .
These and similar narrations in the books of interpretation, and many of them are not attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, with a true or weak chain of transmission, and it is not permissible for them to be considered an interpretation of verses of the Qur’an, for they contain what hinders the Qur’an, and opens the way for those with falsehoods to challenge the Holy Qur’an and deceive people with these corrupt narrations.
